Question
A train moving at a speed of 25.0 m/s toward a stationary observer standing alongside the sounds a 600 Hz horn. Use 345 m/s for the speed of sound.
a) What frequency does the observer hear as the train approaches?
b) What frequency does the observer hear when the train is directly in front of him?
c) What frequency dpes the observer hear as the train moves away from him?
For a) I thought f+ = f0*[1-(vs/v)] , where f0 = 600Hz, vs = 345m/s and v = 25.0 m/s
For c) I thought f+ = f0*[1+(vs/v)] , where where f0 = 600Hz, vs = 345m/s and v = 25.0 m/s
Please, could anyone be able to guide me if I am right for a and c??? And I am not sure for b.
Explanation / Answer
when the train is directly infront of observer observer hear maxiumu frequency which is equal to natural frequency of train f = 600 HzRelated Questions
