Question
A flywheel with a radius of 0.300 starts from rest and accelerates with a constant angular acceleration of 0.600.1.Compute the magnitude of the tangential acceleration, the radial acceleration, and the resultant acceleration of a point on its rim after it has turned through 60.0.
2.Compute the magnitude of the tangential acceleration, the radial acceleration, and the resultant acceleration of a point on its rim after it has turned through 120.
Again, keep getting the wrong answers on these ones. HELP!!!
Explanation / Answer
radial acceleratiion = r2
tangential acceleration = r x angular acceleration = 0.3 x 0.6 = 0.18 m/s2
A) to find the velocity when it has turned 60o (/3 radians)
2 = o2 + 2 ...(rotational analogue of v2 = u2 + 2aS)
= 2 = (2x 0.6 x /3) = 1.121
radial acceleration = r2 = 0.3 x 2 = 0.377 m/s2
Net acceleration = (0.3772 + 0.182)=0.418 m/s2
2 = 2x0.6x2/3 = 2.513
radial acceleration = 0.32 = 0.754 m/s2
net acceleration = (0.7542 + 0.182) = 0.7752 m/s2
