Glycogenin is a substrate that acts as a primer for polymerization of initial few molecules of glucose during the synthesis of glycogen in animals.

Thermogenin is a protein that is involved in generating heat by non-shivering the thermogenesis and is exclusively found in mitochondria of brown fat cells. It is an uncoupling protein that carries out the facilitated diffidiff of protons across the mitochondrial inner membrane.

Brown fat is a type of adipose tissue which is involved in thermogenesis by burning fat. For this purposed it contains multiple droplets of mitochondria. This mitochondria is rich in iron which gives it it's brown colour - hence the name.
