Since there is no vertical component,

vy = 0 m/s

y = 1/2ayt2

t = sqrt (2y / a)

t = sqrt (2*9.5 / 9.8)

t = 1.3924 seconds

Now,

x = vxt

vx = x/t

vx = 8.5 / 1.3924

vx = 6.1045 m/s
