mass of water = volume x density

M= 4/3(pieR^3 )

R^3=3M/4pie*
M = 5.2 x 10^5 kg

= 1000 kg/m3

hence R = 6 m

the diameter of the tank = 12m

a) Gauge pressure at jones house P1 is

P1= g*18
=1000*9.8*(1+12)
=294000 N/m^2

b) the gauge pressure at smiths house P2 is

P2=  g(18)

=1000*9.8(18+12-2.50)

=269500 N/m^2
