Question

10. -/8 points SerCP11 18.P.010. Consider the circuit shown in the figure below. (Assume R1-10.5 , R2 = 1.35 , and V= 6.45 V.) 4.00 5.00 3.00 (a) Calculate the equivalent resistance of the R1 and 5.00-2 resistors connected in parallel (b) Using the result of part (a), calculate the combined resistance of the R1, 5.00-a and 4.00- resistors (c) Calculate the equivalent resistance of the combined resistance found in part (b) and the parallel 3.00-2 resistor. (d) Combine the equivalent resistance found in part (c) with the R2 resistor

Explanation / Answer

R1 and 5 ohm are in parallel,

1/R = 1/10.5 + 1/5

R = 3.39 ohm ...........Ans(a)

R and 4 ohm are in series.

R' = 4 + 3.4 = 7.4 ohm ..........Ans(b)

(C) R' and 3 ohm are in parallel

1/R" = 1/7.4 + 1/3

R" = 2.13 ohm ....Ans

(D) Req = R2 + R" = 3.48 ohm ....Ans

(E) I = V / Req = 1.85 A

(F) V2 = I R2 =2.50 Volt

(g) V3 = V - V2 3.95 Volt

(h) I = 3.95 / 3 = 1.32 A
