Question
10. (2 pts) Which statement about gluconeogenesis is TRUE? A. All reactions of gluconeogenesis are the reverse of glycolysis reactions. B. Gluconeogenesis occurs in mammals but not in other types of organisms. C. The brain is the primary site of gluconeogenesis in humans D. Only carbohydrate compounds are precursors for gluconeogenesis. E. Fructose 6-phosphate is an intermediate in both gluconeogenesis and glycolysis (5 pts) Indicate whether each of the following processes can result in a change in the amount of an enzyme in cells, its catalytic activity, or both. Responses apply to the enzyme itself, not to other molecules that might regulate the enzyme's activity or 11. synthesis. Enter your responses in the blanks. A. Phosphorylation or dephosphorylation B. Gene transcription C. Messenger RNA degradation D. Allosteric ligand binding E. Alternative or regulatory subunit bindingExplanation / Answer
I believe the correct answers to be
10) E) fructose 6 phosphate is an intermediate in both gluconeogenesis and glycolysis.
11) A) Catylitic activity as these leads to activation or deactivation of the enzyme.
B) amount of enzyme in cell as this is how enzymes are generated in cell.
C) amount of enzyme in cell as without the mRNA, the enzyme would no longer be produced.
D) catalytic activity would be affected as the enzyme would no longer be able to bind to its previous substrate.
E) I am not sure about this but i think it should be catalytic activity as the binding is occuring to the enzyme itself and it is regulatory as well.
