Question
The ball reaches peak height between frames 45 and 46 or about 0.76 seconds into the video What are the horizontal and vertical displacements of the ball during the 0.67 s (40 frames) before peak height (from frame 5 to frame 45)2 Note: be sure to include both the magnitude (in appropriate SI units) and direction. (3 pts) e. Frame 5 cadredes (112.8)248.7 ame f. The ball reaches peak height between frames 45 and 46 or about 0.76 seconds into the video. (3 pts) saMe Are the answers to question e similar to the answers to question f Should they be similar? (2 pts) g.Explanation / Answer
e)
Now the displacement between 5th to 45th frames can be calculated as follows.
S1= (x12 + y12)
S1= (112.82 + 248.72) = (12723.84 + 61851.69) = 74575.53 = 273.085 unit.
S2= (x22 + y22)
S2= (376.92 + 477.52) = (142053.61 + 228006.25) = 370059.86 = 608.325 unit.
S2 – S1= 608.325 – 273.085 = 335.24 unit.
Therefore, S1 = (Y12) = (248.72) = 248.7
S2 = (Y22) = (477.52) = 477.5
Thus, Total Vertical Displacement is
(Y2 - Y1) = 477.5 - 248.7 = 228.8 unit.
(X2 – X1) = 376.9 – 112.8 = 264.1 unit.
f) Vertical & Horizontal Displacements for frames 46 to 86 will be the same i.e.
Horizontal : (X2 – X1) = 648.2– 384 = 264.2 unit.
Vertical : (Y2 - Y1) = 477.5 - 248.7 = 228.8 unit.
g) Answe of 'e' & 'f' are similar. They will be & should be similar as from 46th frame onwards ball starts descending in parabolic path with increasing horizontal displacement from origin. & As peak is attained between frams 45 & 46, its height wont increase further as ball starts descending. So in both cases vertical as well horizontal displacements remain same.
