I have an adiabatic sealed vessel with a friction-free piston-cylinder assembly (see figure). Initially, the piston is supported by air (perfect gas with sepcific heat ratio k) at Ti and Pi with a perfect vacuum above it. To initiate the process, the piston seal is broken and air is allowed to flow through it until the piston comes to rest at the bottom of the vessel.


Using a closed system consisting of the entire vessel (air and piston), find the final temperature (Tf) as a multiple of the initial temperature (Ti).
