Question

1.   What are Laplace impedances, and how do they help with circuit analysis problems? How do these impedances compare to the impedances of inductor and capacitor ( j w L and 1/ (jwC) ) that you were taught in the circuit theory class.

2.   What are the two properties of Laplace transform that transform differentials and integrals to multiplication and division and lead to Laplace impedances for inductors and capacitors?

3.   For a series RL circuit with L = 10 milli Henry, and R= 1Kilo Ohm, use the Laplace transform to find the current in the resistor as a function of time when a step voltage of 1V is applied to the circuit input. Is the waveform of current exponential or some other type?

4.   What are the impedances of an inductor and a capacitor (of any value) at a frequency of 0 Hz (DC) and at infinite frequency. Once we know what they are , how can this information help us in analyzing a circuit.
