To modulate the RF carrier, a class D amplifier can be usedsince it is very efficient and can give high power outputs. But thequality of the sound may be compromised. In that case, class AB canbe used. Low power RF stages have mostly class B amplifiers can beused because class A is too inefficient and at low power,class B wont give much distortion. Class AB power amplifier is used to generate the RFcarrier. AB amplifiers have acceptable linearity and lessdistortion compared to the class B amplifiers. Thus they aresuitable for delivering high power output with relatively lessdistortion. Class D amplifiers might also be used if quality of thesound is not a major issue. I hope this helps you.
