Question

e.

The purpose of this laboratory is to practice the Wheatstone bridge theory. Also, you will reinforce your previous understanding of voltage, current, and resistance measurements. We will also use some analog measurement equipment We will use the Weston Model 81 analog voltmeters for our galvanometer in this lab. These are the analog meters sitting on the lab bench. Set the dial on the Weston voltmeter to 10. The 10 is the multiplier resistance. We will use the terminal labeled ".25 to 250V". Using this terminal means the values we will read will be based on the middle set of numbers on the scale and the value will be divided by 10, based on the multiplier resistance. Using 10 is better so as to get better resolution for our values. The 5 in the picture above is in the middle set of scales, this is the set we will use. Answer the following questions. When would you have used the values on the top most scale of the Weston voltmeter?

Explanation / Answer

We will use the top most set of value when we need to see just the approximate values in order to know whether or not we are close to our specifications
