Explanation / Answer

Question 7 )

Part A) using the kinematic equation ,

h = ut + (1/2)*g*t^2

Here u = 0 ,

h = (1/2)*9.8*3^2

h = 44.1 m

Thus the ball falls by 44.1 m after 3 seconds

b) Given , u = 5 m/s

H = ut + (1/2)gt^2

H = (5*3) + (1/2)*9.8*3^2

H = 59.1 m

Now , using

v = u + gt

v = 5 + (9.8*3)

v = 34.4 m/s

Thus after 3 seconds ,

position ( distance travelled) = 59.1 m

speed = 34.4 m/s
