Question
A wire ( with negligible resistance) and a 10 ohm resistor are used to form a circuit in the shape of a square. 20cm by 20cm. A uniform but nonsteady magnetic field is increased from 1.0 T to 1.90T in 90ms. What is the average induced current and it’s direction through the resistor in this time ?A. 40 mA from a to b B. 145 mA from a to b C. 75 mA from b to a D. 75 mA from a to b E. 40 mA from b to a

Explanation / Answer
area of square = L^2 = 0.2^2 m^2
magnetic flux phi = B*A
induced emf = rate of change in flux
emf = dB/dt*A
dB = change in magnetic field = B2 - B1 = 1.9 - 1 = 0.9 T
time interval dt = 90 ms = 0.09 s
emf = 0.9/0.09*0.2^2 = 0.4 v
current = emf/R = 0.4/10 = 0.04 A = 40 mA
direction is from a to b
OPTION A
