Explanation / Answer
As a licenced (RN) registered nurse, it is crucial to address & learn about the issues associated with “gastric feeding tube placement by injecting air and auscultation into the abdomen” in nursing practice with your client & with your preceptor. RN should professionally address the current evidence for the nursing care of patients, who would like to get gastric feeding tube placement into the gastric region. RN must obtain information during her practice from the preceptor about the advantages & disadvantages and care must be taken when implementing this procedure to the patients. On the other hand, it has crucial to RN to inform about the care necessary to take feeding tube placement” before and after placement, when communicating with patient. These procedures should be done in the registered health care organization at the time of gastric tube placement.
RN must not and inform about the internal gastric pH before and after gastric tube placement to the preceptor, it is the supporting information to the preceptor in case of the procedure needed to be changed during the nursing practice. If any adverse reactions are going to occur, it is crucial to change the tube placement protocol by informing preceptor. The other things, which have to be addressed to examine the “gastric tube after inserting into the abdomen” regular checkups and X-ray film examination. The measurement of pH of internal gastric fluids obtained within the gastric feeding tube enable them to assess the exact location of gastric tube. RN must address all these aspects with the preceptor during orientation of nursing practice. Health & safety of the clients & patients when doing these protocols are essential because auscultation has sometimes proven ineffective due to misplacement in the lungs
