Question
A harmonic wave on a string that has a mass per unit length of.05kg/m and a tension of 80 N has an amplitude of 5cm. Each pointon the string moves with simple harmonic motion at a frequency of10Hz. What is the power carried by the wave propagating along thestring? The answer is 9.9 W
I've got
p-av=.5**^2*A^2*v
However, the solution on this website gives ____________
p-av=.5(4^2)(.05kg/m)*(10/s)^2*(.05m)^2*((40/.05)kg/m) =9.87W
I understand were it all comes from except for the 4^2. Wheredoes that come from?
Explanation / Answer
Never mind, just came to me 10hz = f w=10*2 w^2 = 10^2 * (2)^2
