Question

A pilot is flying a plane with a speed (with respect to air) at220m/s in a region where the wind is blowing at a constant 30.0m/sat 20.0° South of West. In what direction should she head theplane so that the resultant heading with respect to the ground is20.0° West of North?

On a test i received this question and of course trieddrawing it, well that wasn't so simple. I skipped it and went backto it and had like 10 minutes left to do it so i tried it and got2.5/5.

Just wondering how to set it up and how to solve it, Thanks.

Explanation / Answer

Well, I think i figured it out. I figured out that to end upat 20° West of North with the factor of the wind, you will needto head 220 m/s at 12.3° West of North.
