2. You worK for Roadway Express trucking company in the Environmental Health anod Safety Division. Roadway wishes to establish a new terminal in South Jersey. The corporate planner/manager for this project tells you that 100 acres of contiguous real estate is needed for this project and that the current target property is a large 150 acre farm that is reported to have "some" wetlands on the farm itself. The question that the manager wants you to answer as soon as possible is whether or not this property can likely fulfill the corporate need for 100 contiguous acres of buildable property. WHAT WOULD YOU DO, AND WHOSE ADVICE WOULD YOU SEEK IN ANSWERING THIS QUESTION?Explanation / Answer
wetlands are the land whichare saturated with water and they may be saturated throughout the year or may be seasonal. In either case the the soil below will be very much loose and will not be able to support the construction over it. So in that case the convetional foundation construction will not help and will have to go for the for construction like compaction foundation, combined footing, rafte footing etc. and once the construction is done the comapny can't allow the water to be accumulated below or at the side of the construction so special steps to be taken to counter that.
There are many enviromental concerns that are going on and which will not allow the construction over the wetland as it will disturb the ecological balance of the region and without the clear understanding and for that Associate experts have to be present in the team as the expert will tell as to how to restore the balance of the region as once the construction is done on the wetland site. The wetland sites are also used by the local people for their livings and after the construction its the company's social responsiblities to generate the employments for the local people.So the company have to look in many number of problems before the construction on a wetland.
