Solution -

1) Resources which are over allocated -

The excavator can be used both for excavation and loading purpose so separate loader should be avoided.

The grader and bulldozer both does the function of making the surface flat and removing the excess materials.So grader should be avoided.

The dump truck and bottom dump truck does the same function of dumping the materials so dump truck to be avoided.

2) Hardest way to resolve over allocation -

Reosurce over allocations can be prevented either by increasing the productivity of equipment or hiring experienced operator or renting another piece of equipment if the existing equipment don't function well. The hardest way will be to buy new equipment since the purchase cost & maintenance cost will increase.

Answer - Buy a new piece of equipment is the hardest way.

3) The critical path is the activities with longest duration.

Here the critical path of activity is 1-2-3-5-6-7-8-9-11-12-13-14-15. Here 1,2,3 etc are the IDs.

So activity with ID 4 (removing existing concrete) is not in the criticial path for demolition activities

Answer - Removing existing concrete

4) From the critical path the activity with ID 10 is not in the critical path which is install new traffic signals for reconstruction activities

Answer - Install new traffic signals.

5) removing of pavement, concrete, subgrade requires excavator , graders ,loaders but for replace unsuitable base materials scraper and loader will be enough.

Answer - So replace unsuitable base materials activity is over allocated with resources

6) The total work days will be duration of activites in critical path.

Here critical path is 1-2-3-5-6-7-8-9-11-12-13-14-15 with total durations of 50 days.

Answer - 50 days
