Question

A crime has been committed, and there is evidence left at the scene from which DNA was isolated and subjected to a fingerprint analysis. There are three suspects in the case. The results of the DNA fingerprinting are shown below. Of the three suspects, which is/are excluded based on the DNA fingerprint data? What is the basis for your answer? For the remaining suspect(s), what factors would need to be considered in making a decision about the likely guilt or innocence of one or another of these suspects? (By "likely, " I don't mean separate evidence; I mean statistical likelihood.)

Explanation / Answer

on the basis of DNA fingerprinting results we can determine the criminal by matching the DNA prints of the suspect and the crime scene DNA. The basis of fingerprinting is VNTR , variable number tandem repeat. it is particular short tendom repeat with highly variable sequences.

in the above case suspect 1 and 2 are excluded. because their tendem repeat sequence is not identical with the result of crime scene DNA, so here suspect 2 is the criminal.
