Magnetic Forces - Directions Due in 6 hours, 48 minutes A charged particle is moving perpendicularly to a magnetic field B. Fill in the blank indicating the direction for the quantity missing in each option. ty +x Use the diagram above for the directions of the various axes xPositive Charge, Velocity: 2, B-Field: y, Force: ?? Negative Charge, Velocity: ???, B-field: +y, Force:-z Negative Charge, Velocity:·x, B-Field: ???. Force:-z Right hand rule. Put your pen down and use your RIGHT hand. As per the right hand rule, when we point our middle finger towards Magnetic field and thumb in the direction of velocity, then the index finger will give us the force direction. As per the first question, the force should be in negative x-direction.
In the second question, Note that we have a negative charge moving, it means the velocity will be opposite to the direction given by right hand rule, therefore it should move in positive x-direction.
NOTE - Force points in the opposite direction as thumb.
