Question

4. The force parallel to a surface is 380 N and the force perpendicular to the surface is 555 N. The coefficient of friction is 0.66. What is the frictional force? a. 84.1 N b. 617 N c, 251 N d, 366 N 5. In question 4, if the 380 N force is the anterior force applied by a foot on the ground when walking, what will the person do? a. Fall, because the frictional force is less than the applied force b. Fall, because the frictional force causes the foot to "stick" to the ground because it is greater than the anterior force c. Continue walking as normal since the frictional force is sufficient to prevent slipping d. Not enough information to answer

Explanation / Answer

As you can know from the previous problem 4 is that the friction force acting on the body is 555×0.66 = 366N.

As the normal force and gravitational force get canceled , the net force acting on the body is 380-366 = 14N.

As the friction force is not very much less than the applied force

The body will continue walking as normal as the frictional force is enough to prevent slipping.

So the answer is option C
