Question

LAB #7 Chapter 21 1112/2212 Kirchofrs Laws problems, including ase work on the following problems in the lab this week (March 22-24, 2017 Ans: 12 I. What is the equivalent resistance between points A and B in the cicuit shown below a: 2 What is the emr of the battery the picture below? what is the potential difference between Ansi in s n resistances dissipate points A of the battery How much power does the internal and B V: 15 V: 1.2s W 05 A 4 Determine the cament in each branch in the circua pictured below Ans: 5 At 6 At 1 A 4 Determine the current in the 10-V emf (Ansi 23 A) 500 1 ov 15 500 10V 500

Explanation / Answer

2) Eqv resistance of the circuit

Req= 20 +10 + 5 = 35 ohm

emf of battery , E = I*Req = 0.5*35 = 17.5 V

Eqv resistance between A and B

RAB = 20+10 = 30 ohm

Voltage across A and B

VAB = I*RAB = 0.5*30 = 15 V

Power dissipated in 5 ohm resistance

P = I2R = 0.52* 5 = 1.25 W

4) Applying kirchoff's law in two loops

4i1+2i3 - 18 = 0

2i2+2i3 + 14 = 0

i3= i1 + i2

From above eqn

6i1+2i2 - 18 = 0

2i1+4i2 + 14= 0

multiplying by 3 and subtracting

or 10i2+ 60 = 0

or i2= -6 A

i1= 5 A

i3= i1 + i2 = -1 A
