Question

An amusement park ride called The Roundup passengers and inside a 19.0 m -diameter rotating ring. After the ring as acquired sufficient speed, it tilts into a vertical plane, as the figure (Figure 1). Suppose the ring rotates once every 5.10 s. If a rider's mass is 58.0 kg with how much force does the ring push on her at the of the Express your answer with the appropriate units. Suppose the ring rotates once every 5.10 s. If a rider's mass is 58.0 kg with how much force does the ring push on her at the of the ride? Express your answer with the appropriate units.

Explanation / Answer

(figure is not clear )

Diameter is 19 m. so circumference will be=2*pi*9.5=19*pi= 59.6600 m

time it takes=5.10 seconds to rotate once hence speed will be=distance cover/time=59.66/5.10=11.69 m/s

Thus force on the her= mV^2/r=58*11.69^2/9.5=834.3215 Newton

However, we have to add another Force to the above force i.e =mg=58*9.8=568.4000 N (due to gravity force)

So at Top total force =834.3215 - 568.4000 = 265.9215 N

So at Bottom total force =834.3215 - 568.4000 = 1402.7 N
