Two students are observing the motion of a Mercedes Benz. They calculate, with various handy dandy gadgets, that the Benz is changing its speed constantly by 2.2 m/s every second while moving along a straight road. Student 1: The Benz is traveling at a constant velocity. Therefore at the end of 2 seconds, it would have traveled 4.4 m and the speed will still be 2.2 m/s. Student 2: No, the Benz is not traveling at constant velocity. At the end of two seconds it would have traveled 4.4 m but the speed will not be 2.2 m/s Which student do you agree with and why? Discuss all parts of all statements made by both students. Saying I agree with student 1 or 2 or neither will not suffice.
In the case with student 1 with the velocity being constant the Benz will in fact go 2 meters in the time given of 2.2 m/s. To figure out the distance of the vehicle going you are going to use the distance traveled divided by the speed. In this case it would be 4.4/2.2= 2.
In the case with student 2, since the Benz is not traveling at a constant velocity then it would be determined by taking the velocity and dividing it by the time. So in this situation it would be taking 4.2-2.2= 2. Then taking 2 and dividing it by 2 thus the answer would be 1.
I agree with student 1 since you would be going further distance, while driving at a constant speed.

i do not agree with student1 and student 2 because the benz is changing its speed constatly by a factor of 2.2 to every second which means, At the end to 2 sec the distance covered should be 6.6m and its speed is given by
speed= total distance covered in 2 sec/total time taken
speed = (6.6m)/(2s)
speed = 3.3m/s
so it satisfies neither student 1 nor student 2 statement.
