Question

Please help explain how these work... Thank you!

Explain the wireless light. Can you conclude whether the solenoid's current is DC (steady current) or AC (current changes direction)? Explain the jumping disk. The direction of the force (up vs. down) on the coil depends whether the solenoid's field is increasing or decreasing. Determine whether the upward force occurs when the field is increasing or decreasing and show your argument. You may find that it is useful to characterize the induced current as an equivalent bar magnet.

Explanation / Answer

Wireless Light means wireless current

This current is called induce current. It is induced because of chenge in magnetic field around the solenoid. It is Faradays Law of induction.

This Induced current direction depends on the poles of magnet i.e. towards solenoid or away from it. So current also changes direction. i.e. Solenoid's current is AC

Jumping Disk :

It is explain by using Faraday's Law of inductin and Lenz's Law

statement of Lenz's Law: a law stating that the direction of an induced current is always such as to oppose the change in the circuit or the magnetic field that produces it.
