Question

Laboratory matings: a) Fully armored Lateral plates P: Pelvic structure (b) Reduced armor with vestigial pelvic structure 2: 8.9 2.5 Vestigial pelvic structure 3.4 1.2 The images that are presented above and at the left in the figure show (a) a representative marine stickleback fish with heavy armour(i.e, large lateral plates and large pelvic spines) and (b) a representative freshwater stickleback fish with light armour (i.e., small lateral plates and small pelvic spines) The graphic that is presented above and at the right in the figure depicts a cross between a representative marine stickleback fish (generation P, at left) and a representative freshwater stickleback fish (generation P, at right) and information about subsequent crosses and generations and relative phenotype frequency data.

Explanation / Answer

Answer is (A) . Alleles encoding large lateral and pelvic spines are dominant in the F1 generation but the allele encoding small pelvic spines is recessive .. where as in the F2 generation since it is heterozygous cross , characters of P generations occurs 50:50 in the F2 generation .
