Explanation / Answer

Detective internal control is used to find errors after they have been done. They are used for determining the efficiency of the policies. Like for example doing an internal audit, peer reviews, taking inventory, cash counts, checking accounting works. They help to protect assets which means the employee will be alert while doing their work with full responsibility. Preventive internal controls prevent errors and irregularities before it happens. It happens regularly. Some of the preventive internal controls are backing up of computer data, drug testing, employee screening, training programs, getting prior approval. To keep up the accuracy and integrity of health data both the controls are necessary and it should be done as an on going process.
