Question
A ferris wheel rotates at an angular velocity of 0.036 rad/s. At t = 0 min, your friend seth is at the very top of the ride. What is seth's angular position at t = 3 min, measured counterclockwise from the top? Give your answer as an angle in degrees between 0 degrees and 360 degrees.
Since the ferris wheel is at the TOP at 0 minutes, I took its initial angular position to be 1.57 rad/s. I then used the equation, Angular position final - angular position initial = angular velocity(time interval). With this equation I got 462 degrees which I subtracted from 360 to get 102 degrees as my final answer. Is this correct.
Explanation / Answer
The angle (in radians)=ang_velocity (in radians) * time (in seconds)
3 minutes = 3*60 seconds
the angle a after 3 minutes is:
a=3.6
