Question
Four 10.0 ? resistors are connected in series with a 21.0 V battery. Find the following.
equivalent resistance ? current in each resistor A Four 10.0 ? resistors are connected in series with a 21.0 V battery. Find the following. (a) the equivalent resistance of the circuit Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 10%. Double check your calculations. ? (b) the current in each resistor Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 10%. Double check your calculations. A (c) Repeat for the case in which all four resistors are connected in parallel across the battery. equivalent resistance ? current in each resistor AExplanation / Answer
equivalent resistance in the circuit when resistors are in series of same resistance is nR
so here Requivalent = 40 ohms
and in parallel connectio Requivalent = R/n
so Requivalent = 10/4 ohms=2.5 ohms
resistors in series have a Common Current flowing through them as the current that flows through one resistor must also flow through the others as it can only take one path.
so current through each resistor is 0.525 A
and in pareallel connection the current will be divided at each resistor here it is 21/10=2.1 A
