With the invention of new technologies & processes today’s health care system has become more complex & different from what it used to be. American health care system has witnessed big changes in term of its delivery, quality & reach. Electronic health records have gained a lot of attention in today’s health care system due to its effectiveness in managing patient records & efficiency. Hospitals & health care establishments are adopting EHR to digitize patient data & make optimal use of information tech considering the importance of it The United Americas University Healthcare System also added several, new applications to complement their Electronic Health Record (EHR). Voice Recognition and document imaging will also be applied as innovative data capture applications. As the Chief Information Compliance Officer, I will establish below policies & procedures to enable decision-makers to use the data appropriately and efficiently.

Set Data standards: In order to achieve maximum efficiency in EHR system data standards plays a vital role. In the context of health care data standard means collection, storage, change & retrieval of methods, protocols, terminologies & other specifications into proper EHR applications. We need to set standards for message formats, clinical templates, user interface & patient data. We require to determine standardized terminology to explain diseases & procedures. We need to develop standards & definitions, specified terminology & classification of terms.

Documentation of data: Documentation of data is essential to provide continuous or consistent service to patients. It includes collecting, coding, ordering & storing the information in an appropriate manner.

Applications quality & efficiency: We need to develop applications which are easy to use & easily accessible. The Application should be able to identify & maintain patient records, maintain clinical documents & lists, capture medication & care plans, generate & record instructions in a timely manner. We can increase its effectiveness by developing mobile based technologies like applications for smartphones & tablets which are easily accessible from remote locations.

Privacy & security: This is one of the most important aspect of any EHR system. S there are already rules & regulations like HIPPA to protect unfair use of any patient data, we need to integrate our system according to prescribed formats & procedures.
