1.What does wellness mean to you? What impacts your wellness? Utilize what you have learned through the Wellness Inventory and lab as well as your own personal thoughts and experience.
2.Create a vision that is POSSIBLE and attractive within the next 6 months to 3 years. What qualities would you like your life to have? You won’t need to goal set or strategize yet, just envision. Your vision should be positively stated. Keep it concise and inspirational. Make it more about who you want to be, not what you want to “do” It should be something exciting to move towards.
3.It is important that we understand the purpose behind our vision. Keeping this in mind can help us stay on track to achieving our vision. What is the “why” for your vision? What is the purpose behind wanting to realize your vision? Why do you want to realize the wellness vision you created?
4.Consider what has to change in your life to realize your Wellness Vision? What will you have to “not do” to achieve your vision?
5.determine the 3 areas of your wellness you want to focus on they need to be areas you want to seek to improve over the next 3-6 months that will help you realize your vision. We will call these wellness areas for focus. What are your 3 wellness areas for focus AND WHY? Consider the following. Your Wellness Inventory Assessment results Select areas for focus on that are truly a priority for you Select areas for focus on that you currently feel ready to work on (high motivation) Consider your whole-person well-being, not just one aspect of your wellness. Remember that the dimensions of wellness interact with one another. These still aren’t goals. We will get to those. Some examples: Eating more fiber, strengthening friendships, exploring meaning, managing finances
6.Below set one goal per wellness area for focus that you set above. These should be goals that you will start pursuing soon. Your goals must include the following. Each goal must be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-Oriented. Remember your “Why?” when setting your goals. Your goals should move you closer to your Wellness Vision. Your goals should represent the changes you want to realize in those areas for focus you selected. This should be the outcome you want to realize.
7.Next you will create a plan for what you will actually DO to achieve your goals. We call these action steps. You will create at least 1 action step per goal. Below write at least one action step for each of your above goals. They must include/consider the following: These represent things you are making a commitment to DO. It should be clear what you will actually do. If there is no action involved it is not an action step. Action steps are short term. They are what you will do from day-to-day, week-to-week They are behavioral actions that will bring you closer to your goal and ultimately, your vision. Always remember your why? Ideally you will set weekly action steps to accomplish small, manageable steps on a regular, consistent basis. Action steps should be short term time bound. (Ex: X days per week)
8.How will you know you are successful? What will be your indicators of success?
9.How will you overcome barriers? Reflect on the barriers that currently stand in your way—the reasons you haven’t already achieved your vision. How will you overcome these barriers?
10.Who/what can hold you accountable and/or support you? Write out an accountability and/or support plan below. Consider the following: If you will utilize a person to hold you accountable, how will they do that? You can utilize a journal or calendar for accountability or support. You can utilize apps for accountability or support.
11.Think about the LONG-TERM---your LIFETIME. What are at least 3 strategies you will utilize to maintain your high level wellness journey?
12. Finally, create a visual of this “map” you have created for yourself while working through the Wellness Vision Plan Assignment. As you may have noticed, you created your vision and then mapped out how to achieve that. To create a visual you can make a vision board, a word cloud, a map to your vision or chart….anything that will serve as a visual reminder of your vision, goals and commitment to action.

1. Wellness means; a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO). Further according to the National Wellness Institute; it is: "a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential."
There are many factors that impact our wellness. They can be divided into different categories including;
behavioral, mental/emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and economic. A few examples in each category are listed below:
Behavioral: weight, smoking, alcohol/drug use, diet, activity level
Mental/emotional: depression, grief, outlook
Social: having strong personal relationships
Spiritual: feeling a sense of purpose in life, potentially believing in a higher being
Environmental: air pollution, exposure to toxins
o Economic: living conditions, oppression, etc.
