USES
this medication is a barbiturate, prescribed for seizures, and treating sleep disorders. it works by slowing the activities of brain.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
acute intermittent porphyria, sever lung insufficiency, and obstructive sleep apnea, liver and kidney disease
DOSAGE
adulit - PO- the recommended dose is 30 to 60 mg once daily or in divided doses. IM/ IV the recommended dose is 100 to 200 mg .
WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS
caution should be exercised in patients with history of depresion, pain, breathing problems, suicidal tendancies, shock, drug dependancy, alcoholism, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly , during pregnancy and breastfeeding,.
it may cause dizzines, drowsiness, do not drive or operate a machine while taking this medication.
avoid alcohol consumption, it should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.
SIDE EFFECTS
CNS ; agitation, confusion, involuntary movements, incoordination, depression, mental disturbances,
RESPIRATORY ; difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath
HEAR ; slow heart rate, low blood pressure and fainting.
GI ; nausea, vomiting, constipation
MISCELLANEOUS ; headache, hypersensitivy reactions, fever, liver damage, and anemia.
avoid excess dosage
STORAGE CONDITIONS
store in room temperature 25 degree celciuos.
