https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKIYV0vUKIo

1- What types of behavior did you see being expressed among the Blankenship siblings?

2- Do you know anyone who demonstrates the same type of either positive or negative behavior as one or two in the video?

3- What is it, do you think, that holds some people in such a strong state of denial about the real need to do something about their testing and behavior- to avoid very poor quality of life in the future - even when they know what they should be doing?

4- What suggestions might you share with this family?

Explanation / Answer

1)

Clearly Blankenship family is in denial about the circumstances of the condition they are diagnosed with, there is clear behavior of” Lack of Responsiveness” , which simply means that they a clear sign of disapproval or rejection, ignoring the facts and disapproving on the end results, agreeing on their beliefs, this is has initiated due to multiple diagnosis of type 2 Diabetes in their family, regression and denial to the facts is a clear sign shown by the Blankenship family.

2)

Yes, I do get see such families that are in denial of the consequences, they are at state of mind that they are in good health and good shape, in the video there was sensible statement made by the person that “ if only Diabetes would hurt I would have taken it more seriously” , that’s a strong statement and very true, many of the families have been showing up such behaviors and trying on alternative non medical therapies that are not proven effective for the condition, since it shows up chronic symptoms only after a long time these people tend to think its ok or normal to have Diabetes it wont affect our health, Diabetes doesn’t give pain but it eventually destroys the complete physiology of the human body.
