Explanation / Answer

“What can the American and British education systems learn from classrooms in the developing world?”

America and British education system is considered to be excelling in field of transfer of knowledge to the students but it can be outstanding if some additions and transformation is done in the education system of the developed country taking lessons from classrooms of developing countries.

There is a project done conjointly by Adam Brown and Sugata Mitra under Microsoft's work wonders Project.Various points for improving education system are as follows:

1.student teacher- instead of having a teacher as the expert in classroom, of a student is allowed to teach, the learning is better.

2. Activities during teaching - researches have proved that if physical activities are accompanied with learning process, the brain activity is better and the there is better retention and synthesis of information. Eg. Students in India have shortages of classroom and hence keep moving in the premises and running through the playground, but Their retention is always better

3. Sign language - it can be considered as the third axis to learning beside visual and auditory being the first two axes. If kids create a sign or symbol during the learning process, it can aid effectively in retention of learning process.

4. Reduction in resources - of the number of resources provides to the children to aid learning is limited, then they learn to cooperate with each other which immensely helps in learning process. Eg. Resources in developing countries like India, Ghana are so limited that students have to adjust and decide how to get their need fulfilled.

5. Cooperative around internet- if students are provided with limited large screen monitors, they can read comprehension together which enables the to learn adult level text.

6. Kids getting a chance to teach - it is found in many developing countries that teaching by their elder siblings is more effective than from teacher or parent as the elder sibling teaches at the youngest ones level thus making it easier to understand and hence improve teaching learning process. Eg.Kids learn to play Teacher and not everyone becomes a teacher. Only few selected by the students themselves becomes an efficient teacher.

7. converting "teaching" into " helping you learn" - instead of carrying a stick and enforcing teaching, if the learner is helped to learn, teaching is much easier. Instead of being strict in the teaching process, show the solution to the learner and help them solving. This will definitely improve the learning process. Eg. If we teach a student to tie a shoe lace with stick in our hand he'll take more time to learn than helping him to learn to tie a shoelace by self.

8. Freedom to learn their way - the traditional method of going to school, learning, practicing, memorising etc are found to be very difficult whereas learning from a new game or new device is much easier. If students are given Freedom to learn in their own way, education will be easier.

9.resilience- students in developing countries always have resilience more than students in developed countries and thus students who make it till graduation feel that they should give back to the community which helped them in getting the degree. Hence in some way they try giving back all the skill, habbit and ability that they have got.eg. Students from developing country, after attaining a good position or education do help other children in the locality or community to reach the same level.

10.kids underestimate the limits of their situation- it is found majorly I developed countries that students underestimate the limits of their situation and hence inhibit their thinking of personal growth and achievements. Students think that the present situation will make them eligible only for a selected few opportunities whereas they are forgetting that they can reach the heights if they try.eg. Children who are rag pickers in Combodia dream of becoming the Prime Minister of the country and other one a lawyer.

The recent upcoming trend in education system is SOLE Self Organized Learning Environment which is still underdeveloped but has a promising future in transformation of education system.
