As per the hypothesis given by Malthus the population of any species multiples geometrically while the food arithmetically, which means if there’s availability of food in any place then the population growth will take place very rapidly. If we apply this principle then it in more suitable to have two smaller space crafts that will take human species to two small planets. This is more reasonable because if there is any casualty to one of the spacecraft then also we have half of our population who can continue the human species on one of the planet. And hence option 2 would be more attractive.
