Question

Describe the economic and social impact of acting as if global climate change is occurring (when it is not)—diversion of money from other tasks to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, cost of energy conservation, economic dislocations from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy conservation, and so on.

Or describe the economic and social impact of acting as if global climate change is not occurring (when it is)—impacts on global and local ecosystems, impacts on the ability to grow food or obtain resources (timber), impacts from increased energy usage (air-conditioning?).

Explanation / Answer

escribe the economic and social impact of acting as if global climate change is not occurring (when it is)—impacts on global and local ecosystems, impacts on the ability to grow food or obtain resources (timber), impacts from increased energy usage (air-conditioning?).

global and local ecosystem

Global and local ecosystem will be suffering under climatic shift, as the temperature increases, it may effect, water level rise, meaning, small islands and coastal areas will be flooded, migratory patterns will be different and flora and fauna will slowly die out, or evolve. Changes will be present in each and every levels of ecosystem , but will be hard to differentiate. Thus, we act nothing is happening, it will again adversely affect the systems. If we didn’t do afforestation , rainfall patterns will change, protection of species in areas susceptible to flooding cant be taken care of along with added adverse effects we cause to the environment.

impacts on the ability to grow food or obtain resources (timber)

Climate change and food production are inter related, if we act there is no such change , globally, we wont notice or take action against, draught, change in rainfall patters, change in average temperature etc, also we wont notice evolution of diseases and pests. Along with impact on food production, agriculture may also worsen the prevailing global warming by causing emissions of green house gases in excess.

·         CO2 releases linked to deforestation land (e.g., forests) into Methane releases from rice cultivation

·         Methane releases from enteric fermentation in cattle

·         Nitrous oxide releases from fertilizer application

Also by the conversion of non-agricultural agricultural land. Agriculture, forestry and land-use change contributed around 20 to 25% to global annual emissions in 2010

Timber production, may cause deforestation which may have an impact on the effect of global warming.

impacts from increased energy usage

Emissions of carbon dioxide into the Earth’s atmosphere – primarily as a result of burning fossil fuels for energy – are thought to be the cause of rising global temperatures. If we dint control our energy usage and emissions with respect to energy production and Ari conditioning( CFC), it will impact global temperature, CFC, destroys ozone layer, causing more UV rays to reach the surface thus more warming happens.
