Introduction:

AUGUSTUSwas the first Roman Emperor who established the Roman Empire. His birth name was Gaius Octavius Thurinus, he was given the title of AUGUSTUS by the senate in 27 BC as a part of the first settlement considering him as the most powerful man in Rome.

THE HEAD OF AUGUSTUS was excavated by JOHN GARSTANG who is a British Archeologist. The head found was of complete bronze which shows the face of one of the most famous leaders in the world, the Roman Empire AUGUSTUS. The head was found in Sudan, which is now a part of the British Museum.

The excavated bronze head was once a part of a complete statue of Roman emperor Augustus, which was made by Romans probably around 27 BC. This statue was built for his victory over Mark Antony at the battle of Actium and the statue stood in a town near Egypt. Though the head is broken by neck still it is in an excellent state of preservation. If we notice history coins and statues were the main media for propagating the image of the Roman Empire.

Augustus was adopted son of Caesar and Augustus slowly started to join Caesar in battle and his uncle Caesar was very much impressed with Augustus and after Caesar death the senate took responsibility and adopted Augustus. Soon Augustus became the ruler and emperor of France who made a permanent army of 150,000 men which made the empire Strong and safe from enemies. He also guarded emperor by creating PRAETORIAN GUARD which consists of 9,000 soldiers. The month August was named after him and he gained political prominence. In history Augustus became Rome's undisputed ruler after defeating Marc Anthony and thus slowly founded the Roman Empire and became it's first empire
