Question
I need a comment on the answer of this question. (The comment must be substantive and cannot simply be “I agree” or a similar brief response; it should be 50-100 words).
Question: In your opinion, which of the thinkers discussed during this week, (Luther, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Adam Smith) was the most influential and why? What specific contributions did they make to the world of ideas and which of them has had the greatest impact on the Modern World?
Answer: I believe that Luther is the most influential because his ideas changed how the catholics were viewed and caused separation of the church, leading towards different sects of Christianity. Back then the catholic church would be paid for giving people "salvation" if they were to sin. Luther's 95 theses emphasized the doctorine of salvation is grace by faith. His philosophies impacted the world then and today cause it undercut the selling of indulgences, shifted people to believe that the bible alone should be the guide for Christian life.
Explanation / Answer
No doubt Luther was a great man. But in the question there is mentioned to discuss the personalities related to this week. I am not fully convinced with your answer. In my opinion The great Newton and locke should be discussed this week because there any many philosophy of locke which are adopted in USA's future plan for its country and also why i am emphasis more on locke because US got its independence in this week too on 4th july in 1776.
