Question
I need a big help. I have my physics final tomorrow and had a trouble with this problem.
I thought since the capacitor is charged, the current will travel the direction with the voltmeter, thus the current should be 10V/ 2ohms = 5A, but the answer key said that it was 0.
I remember doing one of these problems in the textbook, which did the same thing that I did. Simply consider that the wires around the capacitor are cut, ance the current will travel the other route if possible.
Can someone please help me?
A 10 V battery is connected in series with a capacitor, a resistor, an ammeter and a switch. A voltmeter is connected in parallel across the capacitor. After the switch has been closed for a long time, what are the current and capacitor voltage readings, respectively?Explanation / Answer
If the capacitor is fully charged it will have all the voltage so V capacitor = 10V
which voltage of the resistor = 0
since voltage of resisitor = Ir
this means I = 0
