The subarctic region is the vast area about 3000 km from Yukon river to coast of Labrador covered between the Alaska and Canada. The Gwitch'in are the people that mainly occupied the land north of the arctic circle extending from mackenzie drainage and the northern tributaries of Yukon river in the northwest Alaska which borders the Inuit land. They are mainly hunters. Their language is Athabaskan which is not easily comprehensible. They are the northernmost of all north american indians.

The crow are the people that lived in Great plains of North America. They lived a nomadic lifestyle and had no villages. They lived in tent like houses known as tepees. They eat mainly meat of buffalo, elks, deer, wild turkey and elk beer and also wild vegetables and roots, fruits and wild berries etc. Tobacco is the only crop raised by these people. The weapons mainly used by these people are bows and arrows, spears, lances, knives, hatchet axe, stone ball club, jaw ball club and also riffles.

The tools which are mostly used throughout North America are bows and arrows, knives, spears and war clubs, tomahawk. Most important were the bows and arrows and the tomahawk. The arrow point was made up of flint, chert and hornstone. Spear head were also made up of similar material. The war club made up of heavy wood is ornamented with eagle weathers and also painted. Also these people used the war shield made up of buffalo which was painted and decorated with feathers.
