help if I don't do this tonight in trouble

13. (a) Molecaules in a liquid are in continous motion Whnt aspect of the moleculas motice s nor t of the molecular motion is most directly related to the remperature of the liquid? 10) b) At a given temperature, the molecules have a distribeation of speeds from sauall to large. Why the molecules not all have the same speed? Hint: sapposing the molecules did all have the sane speed at a particuliar instant of tiime, wliat would lappen nexr? 121 (c) Molecules will gadually evaporate fion the open suface of an exposed liquid. Explain why a liquid cools when evaporation takes place. Total 5 Marks

Explanation / Answer

(a) Kinetic energy of the system is directly related to temperature of the system. As more is the kinetic energy fo molecules more is its temperature and inturn the kinetic energy is directly related to motion.

(b) In general the gas molecules can have different speeds, because when gas molecules collide each other certain amount of energy transfer can occur between them. As the energy transfers the molecules which lose energy gets lower speed than the previous speed at the same time the molecule which gains energy gets more speed than the previous speed. And it is very known that all the gas molecule can move randomly and colloid each other, hence they change their speeds frequnetly but the average speed of gas at a given temperature is always constant.

(c) As the high energetic surface of the liquid gets evaporated the liquid gets cooled for a while.
