Is there a method we can use to test out if a certain protein, let's say in this case "protein y" enhances affinity for protein x to bind to protein z? I was thinking we can use two test tubes of protein z. then we dump protein x in one tube as the control group and use the other test tube by dumping protein x lacking y encoding genes. Then with that, we use a dye that encodes for connection of protein x to z to see how much of it is binded together from both tubes. I was thinking of using this method as a qualitative test.
Explanation / Answer
Ans- yes this test can be performed but you should have two tubes. One of which will contain protein x and z only while in second tube you should add all the three proteins x,y and z. Then you can use a due as a indicator which can be intrepted by various colourimetric techniques. Or you can directly check the results by using spectrometer or gas chromatography techniques.
