What is the expected final pressure in atm in the container after the explosion knowing that the initial pressure in the container due to air was 750 torr. Assume that the gases behave ideally and that initial gaseous air does not react with the final products. Also assume that the temperature remains at 30 degree C throughout entire reaction.

Initial pressure in the cylinder = 750 Torr (before explosion)

Mass of NI3 = 10 g

Also stated that steel container is closed and it is 200 mL and temperature was not changed

So Volume and temperature are constant

Moles of NI3 =               = 0.0253 mol NI3

2NI3 ----------à N2(g) + 3I2(g)

Form the reaction 2 moles of reactant NI3 forms 4 moles of products

Using this ratio we can find moles of gases present in the cylinder after explosion

Moles of products gases = = 0.0506 mol products
