If you are not sure of the answers that you get please do NOT answer this question. I want the right answers because this is the 3ed time I post the same questions. Thank you.

Please answer Part B and the answer has to be expressed as a chemical formula

Part B To identify a diatomic gas (X2), a researcher carried out the following experiment: She weighed arn empty 4.7-L bulb, then filled it with the gas at 1.80 atm and 30.0 °C and weighed it again. The difference in mass was 9.5 g. Identify the gas. Express your answer as a chemical formula. Submit Hints My Answers Give Up Review Part

Explanation / Answer

Part B from idealgasequation

PV = nRT

n = w/mwt

w = weight of gas = 9.5 grams

mwt = molarmass of gas = ? g/mol

P = 1.8 atm

V = 4.7 L

R = 0.0821 l.atm.k-1.mol-1

T = 30+273 = 303 k

Mwt = WRT/PV

     = (9.5*0.0821*303)/(1.8*4.7)

     = 27.93 g/mol

The diatomicgas = N2 gas (28 g/mol)

Part A

2C2H2(g) + 5o2(g) ----> 4CO2(g) + 2 H2O(g)

from eqaution :

2 mol C2H2 = 5 mol O2

let us take both cylinders are at 25 C

No of moles of O2 filled = PV/RT

                          = 135*5/(0.0821*298)

                           = 27.6 mol

so that ,

No of mole of C2H2 must be taken = 27.6*2/5 = 11.04 mol

Pressure of C2H2 = nRT/V

                  = 11.04*0.0821*298/4

              P =   67.52 atm

Part c

P = nRT/V = 2*0.0821*524/1.75 = 49.17 atm
