Question
Given the following triplet sequence: TAC CCG GTC TTC ATT 1) Transcribe the triplet sequence into a codon sequence. 2) Translate the codon sequence. 3) List the building blocks as 1, 2, 3, etc. Is this although short, a valid sequence? Why or why not? List all the players in this exercise and what they did. Include the template for the step, the carrier of the codon, where the codon is translated (nonmembranous organelle), the building blocks (in general), and the carriers of the building blocks.Explanation / Answer
1. The codon sequence for the given triplet sequence is as follows:
AUG GGC CAG AAG UAA
2. Above codons can be translated into different amino acids as follows:
AUG - codes for Methionine
GGC - codes for Glycine
CAG - codes for Glutamine
AAG - codes for Lysine
UAA - stands for stop codon
3. Building blocks are as follows:
1- Methionine, 2- Glycine, 3- Glutamine, 4- Lysine
Though it a small sequence, it is valid sequence because it has start codon and ends with stop codon and it codes for different amino acids. The different players or molecules involved in translation will be mRNA (coding sequence), tRNA (transfer RNA), ribosomes and enzyme such as peptidyl transferase. The process of translation will occur on ribosomes which are non-membranous organelle present in cytoplasm. The template for transcription will be TAC CCG GTC TTC ATT. The buidling blocks formed will be amino acids which will be synthesized on ribosomes.
