Analyze and evaluate the two most salient trends impacting the ancillary setting. Be sure to fully define the ancillary setting you have chosen.

Two salient trends in the laboratory is cutting costs on testing and implementing new technology to improve processes. Like all businesses and departments the laboratory is always heavy on cutting costs. By changing the way business is handled lower total cost of care can be achieved. (Thompson, S., Varvel, S., Voros, S., Thiselton, D., Grami, S., Turner, R. M., & Barron, J. 2014) With all the machines and reagents needed to do the testing finding the cheapest, most efficient, and accurate diagnostic tools is paramount.

Does healthcare need more or fewer ancillary services? Why?

Having access to more diagnostic tools for a physical is always going to be better for the patient. The sooner that tests can be collected and processed a physician can be accurate with his/her diagnosis. More laboratories in more austere locations would not only make it easier for physicians but patients alike.

Are ancillary services missing in rural areas and how can such services be provided in non-metropolitan areas?

There is a big disparity with some ancillary services in rural areas. That is also due to the current insurance plans available. In some areas certain facilities cannot be used for the ancillary services. Patients taking blood thinners in some areas have to travel greater distances in order to have the tests done in clinics that are covered by the insurance that they have.

Explanation / Answer

Yes the ancillary services are nothing but providing health care in remote areas where there is no minimum medical facility. So it is ofcourse necessary to have ancillary service to the rural areas to cure their diseases and provide their better health care.

Yes ancillary services are missing in rural areas because everyone is stepping back to provide better medical care in rural areas as there was lack of facilities. But medical care is very much important in rural areas and inorder to establish this, health camps needed to be organized and medical awareness also to be provided inorder to make the rural areas disease free.
