A population of antelopes lives in a valley where there have been no cheetahs (a fast-running predator of antelopes) for many generation. In this population you observe variation in running speed among adult antelopes. Now a group of cheetahs becomes established in the valley and begins preying on the antelopes. Using the components of natural selection, explain how the antelope population would become better adapted to their new environment (containing cheetahs) over many generations. Underline each of the components of Darwin’s model as you use it in your answer.

A population of antelopes lives in a valley where there have no cheetahs which is the fast running predator for antelopes for many generations.the antelopes are adopted by variation in running speed .as there was no cheetah in the valley.But after some times like now a group of cheetahs become established in the valley .and they begins preying on the antelopes.Darwin give the thought of struggle for existance ,according to Darwin individuals multiply in geomatric ratio where as space, food remain almost constant.there is three fokd struggle to ensure living to obtain maximum amount of food and suitable shelter.the three struggles are-i)intra specific struggle ii)inter specific struggle iii)struggle with the environent .Darwin's model also tell variation and heredity according this the everlasting competition among the organisms has compelled them to change according to the conditions so that they can utilize the natural resources and can survive successfully.therefore it is difficult to find out any of the two individuals are alike.Even the progeny of the same parents are not exactly alike in all respects specially their habbit.this differences are known as variations.without variation changes could not occur and ther will be no possibility of evolution to occur. Darwin also give the thought about survival of fittest or natural selection according this during struggle for existance only those individuals could survive which exhibit such variation that are proved to be more beneficial in facing the hardships and rigours of environment or which change to adopt them to changing condition.those individuals or races which could not tolerete these hardships stand no chance in the struggle for existance and are routed out.In Darein's word"thouart weighted in the balance of nature and art found wanting".Thus the way the antelope population would become better adopted to their new environment (containing cheetahs)over many generations.
