Sensorineural hearing loss - As the name suggest, lt is hearing loss either due to problem in sensory organ or due to neural cause. ln sensorineural hearing loss , hearing loss is due to damage of hair cells in cochlea or damage to neaural pathway of 8th cranial nerve (vestibulocochlear nerve).

profound deafness could affect a child’s growth and development -
- Due to hearing loss, child delays in development of communication skills. lt affect his normal life. Lack of communication, results in reduced academic performances and it affect child's carreer.
-lt also affect his mental development. Child with hearing loss faces problem in vocabulary.He have difficulty in understanding words with multiple meanings.
-Child faces many learning difficulties. delays language and speech development.
-Children with hearing loss may not hear their own voices when they speak so they can not evaluate their falt in speech. lt also develops speech problem.
- lack of communication causes low self esteem in child . lt isolate him from the society. lt also develop many other behaviour problem and develop stress.

Cochlear implant differ from the normal hearing process-
Normal hearing process - lt start when sound enters the external ear. travels through the ear canal and reaches the eardrum. lt causes eardrum to vibrate and this causes vibration in three bones of middle ear. The vibration is transferred to the inner ear or cochlear. Hair cells or nerve fibres of cochlea receive sound.
The signal are transferred through the auditory nerve to brainstem and then auditory cortex.then we are capable of understanding the sound.
Coclear implant - lt is a electronic implant that help to provide a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf.
Working of cochlear implant differs from normal hearing process.
Cochlear implants bypass damaged portions of the ear and directly stimulate the auditory nerve. Signals generated by the implant are sent by auditory nerve to the brain, which recognizes the signals as sound.
