Question
*********************************************************************
Please give me the reasons behind your answers (the ones that are NOT correct and why). for Example, third one is not correct because ML = -2,-1,0,1,2. which means 2 is incorrect, cause it can hold (Ml x 2 = 10 electrons). Which also means 4 is right because Ml = # of orbitals, or 5 ?
I ESPECIALLY dont know how to do the last one (#8).

Explanation / Answer
n= 4 and l= 2
as l=0 (s) , l=1 (p) , l=2 (d) orbitals so
n= 4 and l= 2 correspondsto 4d orbital
1 in incorrect
2 is incorrect as it can hold upto 10 electrons
3 is incorrect as ml = -2,-1,0 ,+1,+2
4 is correct as there are five d-orbitals
5 is correct as ms = +/- 1/2
6. is correct as last orbital in confg given is 4d
7. is correct
as lower the value of (n+l) lower is the energy of orbital
for n=4 , l=2 (n+l ) = (4+2 = 6)
for n=5 ,l=0 (n+l) = 5+0 = 5
so
n=4 , l=2 has higher energy than n=5 , l=0
8 . is incorrect as when last electron has these quantum numbers the orbital is 4d
but from Sc to Zn the last orbital is 3d
